The Energy Commission of Nigeria has signed a tripartite agreement with an energy consulting group, the Global Wind Energy Council and the Niger State Government on Wind Energy Development in Niger State. Under the agreement, the three parties are to collaborate to promote Wind Energy Development and will establish a Joint Implementation Committee on Renewable Energy Development (wind) consisting of representatives of all the entities to fulfill terms of the deal. While ECN will serve as the implementing agency, Global Wind Energy Council will provide research and analysis on wind power development in Niger State. The collaboration agreement is for a period of five years and may be extended for a further period of five years upon re-negotiation by all the parties.
